This isnít the first time Iíve attempted to make Choctaw Stickball Sticks. After my first editions a few years back, many from the Native community reached out to tell me that they were incorrect, and they were kind enough to aid me in my second attempt. Iíd like to thank Brenner Billy and Clovis Hamilton for the stick making help. Also, I wanna thank Boomer who took the time to teach me how to make the balls. Stickball cups were made by employing some of the hardest bends Iíve ever attempted, and the process was a true test of my patience.
I will always have a special place in my heart for the stickball making process, with how challenging it was and how much joy itís brought me. Thereís still room for improvement, and since this is a living game, I look forward to the challenges of specializing these sticks to match peopleís needs and different playing styles. Iím excited to see where this takes me. My name is Justin Skaggs, and these are my stickball sticks.
This has been a long journey in finding what does and doesnít work. Once again, Iíd like to thank Clovis Hamilton, Brenner Billy (@brenner.b_33), and Boomer (@seminolepride07) for their help in the creation of these 2nd Edition Choctaw Stickball Sticks. If anyone else in the lacrosse community has any insight on the history of these sticks, the making of these sticks, or anything about the art of lacrosse stick making in general, I implore you to share it with me. Communication with the community is part of what drives me to constantly improve my craft, resulting in these new ideas and products that Iím proud to produce. Once again, thank you so much to everyone for their continued support. Take care. Keep LAXiní.
